Job description

Your role as a librarian includes:

  • helping students to find books of their interest
  • keeping the library looking attractive and tidy
  • promoting the library in  the school
  • engaging with students to provide a range of activities
  • Many students just want to browse through the library stock to make their selection.
  • A well-organized and attractively presented collection is important.
  • Books should be arranged tidily and in the correct order to facilitate easy access.
  • It also means presenting a helpful and welcoming face to library so that they feel free to ask for help.
  • By listening to your students, by knowing their interests, by talking to them about what they are really looking for, will you be able to help.

Activities and role as a teacher:

  • Teaching children every Saturday and Sunday with an activities
  • Explaining about SLY Library and its purpose
  • Engaging themselves with local people and promote them reading books
  • Invite people of different age group to visit library, to read newspapers or magazines
  • Organize activities with children- like poetry competition, painting, dancing, and singing competition, plantation, and marathon.
  • Organizing workshop in village with children, like painting exhibition, awareness workshop in village to village.

Salary: 4000-5000 INR + free membership at UMRAN and all the courses & programs available at UMRAN (+ accommodation, if the candidate is not local)

About the Organization:

UMRAN GREEN PERSPECTIVE FOUNDATION is a non-profit international organization registered in India as a Section 8 Company (Licence Number: 119323, ID Number: U85300BR2020NPL046904). Umran was conceived in 2017 and established in 2020. It has undertaken various projects in the field of education, health, art and handicrafts, agriculture to promote peace and prosperity through intercultural engagement. Umran Green School is another project under its ambit that is under construction in Madhubani, Bihar (India). The word ‘UMRAN’ is inspired from Ibn Haldun’s concept of Umran that envisions holistic development at every level of individual and societies. Walter Gropius’ Bauhaus School is another strong inspiration in the conception of Umran. Currently, Umran offers online education programmes at zero cost to people from all walks of life.

UMRAN, A Green Perspective has an objective to make education accessible to the deprived parts of villages in India where education is lacking. UMRAN’s vision is to spread education in the furthest part of the world where schooling can help bring change and development to society. UMRAN, leading multiple educational projects, has started its new venture in Akaunha Village, Jaynagar, Madhubani Bihar, India. Akaunha is a small village in Bihar, located on the border of India and Nepal with a total of 2000 households and 4000 children. The literacy rate in Akaunha village is below 20%. Due to lack of education, children are involved in illegal activities, which has impacted their lifestyle negatively. Hence, we have decided to work for the educational needs of the village and for the sake of the future of the children.
