Myself Arshid ul Islam from Srinagar, Kashmir. I am a Science Graduate with a Gold Medalist Masters degree in Comparative Religion and Philosophy from Central University of Kashmir. Having cleared NET-JRF in Education, nowadays engaged with my thesis write-up on the educational models of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya as I find myself enrolled in Ph.D. Education at Shri Venkateshwara University. Having published six research papers in peer-reviewed journals, I also have several years of experience teaching Arabic language (Spoken and Intensive) at some online and onsite podiums. In addition to some professional certifications in IT such as CCNA and Photoshop, I also serve as Academic Counsellor of Educational Studies at IGNOU, Srinagar. From last two years I have been associated with Umran in learning, teaching and research circles. Concluding with millions and zillions of thanks to Umran & Team for such an invincible opportunity to acquire and dessimante knowledge alongside a deep know-how of linguistic and cultural diversity.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course aims to enhance students’ language proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, enabling them to confidently engage with longer, more complex materials and tasks. The curriculum follows the Common Language Framework, providing a structured approach to language learning.
ASSESSMENT & GRADING SYSTEM
Throughout the course, there will be regular formative assessments that align with the language and skills covered. These assessments will provide ongoing feedback to students, helping them track their progress and identify areas for improvement. At the end of the course, there will be a summative test that covers all aspects of the curriculum.
The assessments will cover the following areas:
- Listening: ability to understand straightforward questions and core information, ability to follow conversations when the speaker speaks slowly and clearly, and readiness to ask for repetition when needed.
- Reading: ability to comprehend the content of accessible texts, such as labels, posters, catalogues, ads, menus, job offers, and schedules, as well as ability to infer the meaning of unfamiliar words from context.
- Speaking: ability to answer questions about oneself, and to discuss topics such as family, place of residence, and food using simple sentences.
- Writing: ability to write a short message.
Grades will be determined based on student performance in these areas, with a focus on assessing the application of language skills in practical contexts.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
The program consists of two days of language classes per week and one biweekly cultural program. To receive a certificate, students must meet the attendance criteria. Students who have missed more than four classes or more than two cultural programs will not be eligible for the certificate.

CERTIFICATION
A certificate is issued upon completion of the course requirements, which include attending at least 90% of the contact hours and passing the final exam. The certificate indicates the course title, volume or number of academic hours, and the time of the course.
