UGS Scholarship Details

Umran Green School (UGS) is an innovative online language and culture school and non-profit organization that aims to provide high-quality language education to marginalized and under-resourced learners worldwide. Through collaborations with global organizations, UGS seeks to eliminate linguistic and cultural barriers and empower learners with the tools they need to succeed.

Since its establishment in April 2020, UGS has expanded rapidly, offering courses in over 10 languages. To date, more than 3,000 students and teachers from over 42 countries have joined UGS and benefited from its high-quality educational resources. As UGS continues to grow, it plans to introduce degree programs to provide learners with comprehensive and meaningful language education.

The goal of the UGS Language Scholarship is to provide language courses to low-income students in order for them to further their education and find better employment opportunities. Because languages play an important role in any opportunity, whether it is for personal development, a job, or further education, UGS wants to ensure that every marginalized student who cannot afford language course fees of the market, receives language course as well. Most city schools offer at least one foreign language, but village schools do not. UGS is attempting to provide these opportunities to them.

This Language Program has proven to be particularly helpful for girls and women and students from remote areas who cannot travel to other cities owing to restrictions, who are unable to attempt a course that is too expensive in the education market, or who have had to abandon their studies. 

Umran Green School Language program focuses on:

• Skill development of learners, helping them to secure academic and employment opportunities in their respective fields while encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.
• A particular focus on youth, particularly women, rural and marginalized populations.
• Consciousness about shared societal issues relating to environment, women’s empowerment, humanitarian aid, and international collaboration.
• Cultural exchange and exploration via language learning, promoting an atmosphere of solidarity amongst various communities, nations, religions and civilizations.
• A culture of diversity achieved by bringing into communication motivated individuals from around the globe.
• Exposure to an international academic environment.

The UGS provides courses to applicants of all nationalities. The UGS scholarship is basically designed for both economically weak and strong students and for the students coming from rural and urban areas. The program and scholarship are open to applicants of any nationality above the age of 15.

Languages:  Hindi, Bangla, English, Turkish, Arabic, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Persian, Russian, Italian, and Urdu. 

Level: UGS teaches from A1 to B2 levels. A1 is beginner Level and B2 is the advanced Level. Each level has been divided into two semesters (eg.- A1= A1.1 +A1.2, each lasting three months.)

Note: Currently, UGS offers from A1.1 to B1.2 for English only and A1.1 to A2.2 for all other language courses.

Note: If a student has an A1.1 certificate, he or she can register for A1.2 without taking a placement test.

Duration: Each Level will last for 12 to 13 weeks (or a total of 33 hours for courses and 5 hours for cultural activities).

Cultural activities: It is organized biweekly for an hour, on Tuesday at 6:30 Pm Istanbul Time. Students learns about the scope and opportunities of language acquisition through cultural events or seminars.

Class Days: Classes are held twice a week, 1h 30min each day (most likely on weekends or as agreed upon by teachers and students).

Note: Students must re-register each semester if they want to continue next level.

Upon successful completion of the course, all enrolled students will get a certificate.

Since UGS is a non-profit organization that offers scholarships for this course, the course fees have been kept as low as possible to support the advancement and expenditure of the UGS Language program. We are also raising funds for a UGS Primary School for Children in Bihar.
