Umran SLY Library is constructed in the Village of Jaynangar City (Madhubani district) with a focus on empowering marginalised children (especially girls) of the region by bringing privileged and underprivileged children together in one location so they can grow together and foster a sense of unity, growth and positive culture. SLY Library will provide youngsters with a variety of opportunities to cultivate a positive outlook, especially for girls and vulnerable children who are at risk of being lost due to insufficient educational institutions, supervision, and culture. Therefore we appeal people to support this project to execute it successfully.
Akaunha is a big village in Jaynagar, Bihar, near the Indian-Nepal border, with a population of 2000 people and 4000 children. In Akaunha village, the literacy rate is below 20%. Children and even the majority of people are involved in unlawful activities due to a lack of education and awareness of other opportunities, severely impacting their lifestyle and society. UMRAN created a small library called SLY Library focused on educational activities influenced by Bauhaus philosophy and the notion of ilm al-umran. The library attracted between 50 and 100 youngsters, but due to a lack of space and supplies, we are not able to serve them efficiently and on a big scale. As a result, we need to enlarge the library and enhance the essential supplies, such as books and seating, so that Umran can offer them a favorable atmosphere for their educational needs.
This library will serve as an educational and cultural emblem, making it a more functional library. It is divided into four divisions, each of which addresses a particular educational requirement. The first component is the reading portion, which includes a variety of children’s books. The second portion will include youngsters in the arts (painting), which will be displayed and sold to encourage young people. The third portion is dedicated to music and theatre, which will involve youngsters in appropriate activities, while the fourth section is dedicated to the café. This area will facilitate communication between adults and youngsters.
The UGPF is raising funds to purchase land and construct the Umran SLY Library. The library is expected to cost 50 lakh rupees. The building will also serve as a center for the Foundation, which will assist UGPF in arranging different events for the community’s progress.
