Umran Language Academy is both yours and ours. Learn, Support, Build, and Expand it.
I wish you a successful semester.
The Umran Green School (UGS) is a world-class, rapidly-expanding voluntary based online language and culture school and non-profit organization which aims to provide marginalized and underresourced learners with high-quality language education. The UGS is constructed on and inspired by the concept of Ibn Khaldun’s ilm al-umrān, Walter Gropius’s Bauhaus movement, and Bruce B. Lawrence’s barzakh logic. Umran Green School works with a diverse group of international volunteers to carry out its goal.
More than 3000 students have been taught by UGS internationally to far. About 42 different countries’ teachers and students have joined UGS. Many students have come from countries including India, Pakistan, the Gambia, the Sudan, Bangladesh, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Turkey, and other European and American nations. Over the past three years, UGS has engaged more than 50 skilled educators from various countries who have voluntarily joined the Umran mission and have been teaching more than 10 languages.
Umran Green School Language program focuses on:
- Skill development of learners, helping them to secure academic and employment opportunities in their respective fields while encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.
- A particular focus on outh, particularly women, rural and marginalized populations.
- Consciousness about shared societal issues relating to environment, women’s empowerment, humanitarian aid, and international collaboration.
- A particular sensibility towards the natural environment, the cultivation of awareness to the surrounding world, our place within it, and its relevance to the global Umran.
- Cultural exchange and exploration via language learning, promoting an atmosphere of solidarity amongst various communities, nations, religions and civilizations.
- A culture of diversity achieved by bringing into communication motivated individuals from around the globe.
- Exposure to an international academic environment where English is the common language.
This Language Program has proven to be particularly helpful for girls and women who are unable to travel to other cities owing to restrictions, who are unable to attempt a course that is too expensive in the education market, or who have had to abandon their studies.
