Umran Green School (UGS) is a global education initiative by the Umran Green Perspective Foundation, committed to making world-class language learning accessible, community-driven, and empowering. In four years, UGS has reached learners across 52+ countries, impacting 4500+ students and teachers. Offering instruction in 10+ international languages from A1.1 to A2.2 levels, UGS awards scholarships worth more than ₹18,000 each to over 600 students annually, provides Teaching Fellowships to 40–60 graduates each year, and supports internships and administrative roles every semester. Each semester spans 14 weeks, with biweekly cultural programs enriching the learning experience.

UGS also sponsors U-Talk Magazine and Umran SLY Library, and has helped students and teachers secure Fulbright scholarships, Erasmus programs, PhD admissions, and prestigious job placements. Through education, culture, and opportunity, UGS continues to build a global community dedicated to empowerment and lifelong learning. 

What is the UGS Teaching Fellowship?

The UGS Teaching Fellowship offers qualified students hands-on experience in language instruction, focusing on developing effective teaching skills through curriculum development, classroom management, and cultural immersion. This program aligns with UGS’s mission to bridge educational disparities, empower marginalized communities, and foster global citizenship through impactful community engagement and high-quality language education.

Why UGS Teaching Fellowship?

At UGS, we prioritize effective teaching as pivotal to shaping young minds. Our Teaching Fellowship provides a unique opportunity for qualified students to gain practical experience as language instructors.

Participants will engage in various pedagogical practices, including curriculum development, language teaching methodologies, classroom management, and content delivery. The program includes four month-long fellowships featuring training sessions, three hours of weekly teaching (across two days), a biweekly cultural program, a stipend, and monthly team meetings. Through this fellowship, participants enhance their teaching skills, collaborate with experienced educators, and positively impact young learners.

What do you gain from this fellowship?

Enhanced Teaching Skills: Gain practical experience in curriculum development, language instruction, and classroom management, enhancing pedagogical knowledge.

Cultural Exposure: Explore global cultures through our cultural program, promoting cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity.

Fellowship Responsibilities:

  • Conduct two classes per week (preferably on weekends)
  • Prepare class materials aligned with UGS syllabus
  • Organize one culture program per semester
  • Attend monthly teacher meetings for training and improvement
  • Maintain attendance and conduct assessments

Fellowship Duration: 4 months (16 weeks), starting in March
Time Commitment: Maximum 3 hours per week
Fellowship Stipend: Yes (Up on completion) 
Type: UGS Teaching Fellowship.
Rewards: Certificate of Teaching Fellowship
Recommendation letter: Based on performance and min. 8 months fellowship 

Languages Required: Spanish, German, French, Chinese, Japanese, English, Korean, Turkish, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Persian, and Italian

About the School

Umran Green School (UGS) is a non-profit, community-based Language Academy located in Istanbul, Turkey. Dedicated to bridging the gap between rural and urban education, UGS offers high-quality, international-level language and cultural programs to marginalized and under-resourced learners. Through initiatives like the UGS Language Scholarship and UGS Teaching Fellowship, we ensure equal access to comprehensive educational opportunities, regardless of financial circumstances. Our vibrant community of 200 students, 40 teachers, and 10 administrative members collaborates to create a unique learning environment that emphasizes intercultural understanding and democratic values. Over the past three years, UGS has welcomed over 4,000 participants from more than 50 countries, fostering personal growth and academic success through language proficiency and global citizenship.

UGS Language program focuses on
  1. Comprehensive Language Learning: Providing rigorous, internationally recognized language courses in ten languages, including European languages, tailored to meet the diverse linguistic needs of students.

  2. Cultural Enrichment: Integrating weekly and biweekly cultural programs and seminars that complement language learning, fostering deeper insights into the cultural contexts associated with each language.

  3. Inclusive Access: Ensuring accessibility through initiatives such as the UGS Language Scholarship and UGS Teaching Fellowship, which support students from marginalized backgrounds in accessing high-quality language education.

  4. Professional Development: Offering certificates, teacher training programs, and internship opportunities that enhance participants’ language proficiency and prepare them for academic and professional pursuits.

  5. Global Engagement: Facilitating global interactions and collaborations among students and educators from diverse backgrounds, promoting global citizenship and intercultural competence.
